Another year of a multitude of fiestas for Denia. Keep checking on this page for updates and to see what's happening during your visit.


Street Fiestas5th January 2014

Los Reyes (The Three Kings)

Held at the Port of Denia, where the Three Kings arrive at the port by boat and parade through the town on fantastically decorated floats, with camels, horses, fire-eaters, acrobats and local dancers in elaborate costumes leading the way. The Kings throw sweets to the local children watching the parade.



26th January 2014

Pilgirimage of Santa Paula's Hermitage.

A parade through the streets of Denia and a market with food, sweets and traditional Spanish produce.


Weekend before Lent (around mid February)


Parade with floats, fancy dress contests, street entertainment, activities, fireworks and lots of dancing to live music.


Half year Moors & Christians

Informal parade of "filaes" - groups of people in historical fancy dress with fake battles between the Moors & Christians.



March 16th - 19th 2014

Our Lady of Rocio Pilgrimage

Parades through the streets of Denia with outdoor parties and entertainment, on the 1st Sunday after 'Corpus Christi' day. More info here: www.casaandaluciadenia.es

Fiestas in Santisima Trinidad Street.

Outdoor dancing, fancy dress contests and traditional Valencian meals.

Classic motorbikes 2 day event,  bringing in crowds from all over Spain.







Street Fiestas20th - 24th June

San Juan (The bonfires of St. John)

Traditionally, families gather on the beaches on the night of San Juan, light bonfires and enjoy food and drink.
At midnight, everyone goes down to the sea to let their feet be washed by the waves, and have their wishes granted.

St John's Hermitage

Religious events and a traditional market with food, sweets and other religious Spanish produce.


28th & 29th June

Fiestas on St. Peter's Street

Live music and dancing in the street and markets.

Fiestas in La Pedrera Quarter

La Pedrera Quarter is beautifully decorated to celebrate the parade in honour of St. Peter with outdoor dancing and firework displays.


Street Fiestas6th - 14th July

Festival of the Sacred Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Day of the Santisma Sang - A bank holiday in Denia, which takes place on the 2nd Wednesday after St. Peter's Day. The Festa Major programme begins on the Saturday before and ends the next Sunday.



The programme includes religious celebrations and other activities such as sports championships, childrens activities, concerts and much more.....

The highlight of the week is the twice-daily extravaganza 'Bous a la Mar' (running of the bulls to the sea). This bull running event is staged annually to commemorate the Festival of the Sacred Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ. During the fiesta week there are flamboyant processions, dancing in the streets, firework displays and live music every night.

This is a must see fiesta!



Street Fiestas13th-16th August

Moors and Christians (Fiesta in honour of St. Roc)

Parades through the streets of Denia, amazing firework displays and music by candlelight in the castle.

The programmes mainly consist of the disembarkation and the Gala Parade where Moors & Christians wear fantastic costumes whilst marching through the centre of Denia to the beat of each groups own following band.


Main event dates:

13th August: Disembarkation of Moors, truce signature.
14th August: Childrens Gala Parade.
15th August: Day of the fiesta - Gala Parade.
16th August: Christian disembarkation, Parlaments, Battle of the Arquebusiers, The Miracle of the Fog, Surrendering & Retreat. Followed by fireworks.



Last weekend in August or first weekend in September

St. Agustin Fiesta in Las Rotas

In honour of St. Agustin and takes place in the Las Rotas area of Denia.


29th August to 12th September

Fiesta in La Xara village in honour of St. Matthew.

Parade through the streets, entertainment with bull running and outdoor dancing with music.


9th - 11th October

Fiestas of the 'Cabrerot' in Jesus Pobre village.

Procession, bull runs, open air dancing evenings, games, etc.


Late October / early November

All Saints Fair

Huge fair consisting of fairground rides for all ages, a great outing for the children to experience.


Early December

Medieval market in the old town part of Denia. Handmade goods, food stalls with music and dancing. The market takes place in the area around historic Calle Loreto over the first weekend in December.


13th December

Pilgrimage to St. Lucia's Hermitage on the Montgo Mountain.
